In this bonus content, you will hear about a case that may be the earliest poltergeist case on record in the colonial United States as this case dates back to the 1680’s. This manifestation was located on Great Island, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and it afflicted the George Walton family.

This manifestation was blamed on witches and it included some of the hallmarks of poltergeist activity including stone throwing with stones hot to the touch, objects moving, banging, and voices. We know about this case because it was written about by the famed Puritan minister, Increase Mather.

The story goes that George Walton was took the land of the widow Hannah Jones by accusing her of witchcraft. She then cursed him so a stone throwing devil would afflict him. The stone throwing devil has become known as Lithobolia in poltergeist lore.
